Thank you for your work with the parachute system, it fits exactly to my Saturn IB Same problems, same solutions.
Will you be ready until ALRS X?

Hi Louis,
I'm glad we're sharing the same problem...
You may want to check George Gassaway's point of view in the TRF topic, message # 119 on page 4:
http://www.rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?t=494&page=4
The more the opinions the better the final solution!
Thank you all! _________________ Giacomo 'g_boxwood' Bosso

I finally got a new job I'll be starting tomorrow.
I'm glad I was able to complete the model in this 2 months of forced holiday time: it turned out to be a full-time load so I wonder how long would have taken if...
The remaining details can be done in the evenings... no more than that!
One question. I'd like to find this type of 9V battery holders:
Is there anyone who knows where to get them? I have one but the main Italian distributors seem not to care about them any more!
Thank you! _________________ Giacomo 'g_boxwood' Bosso

Congrats to your new job!
The part your looking for is a Keystone 1295. Digikey, Mouser and Farnell do stock it. Some notes:
Digikey: expensive shipping (18€) for orders below 65€, free shipping above that
Mouser: no experience with this company
Farnell: this item is special order (overseas) -> +20€ for shipping. Farnell usually doesn't ship to private customers, but makes an exemption for students.
Hope this helps,
Reinhard |

Alessio: great!
Thank you very much, I had one and I got it from Distrelec or RS but as soon as I searched for it again I couldn't find it under the 'battery holder' category.
I thought they didn't carry it any more.
Thank you again!
Thanks Reinhard as well! _________________ Giacomo 'g_boxwood' Bosso

Distrelec is great to get anything in small quantities fast. It's my prefered supplier (distrelec.com -> countries)
BTW: Congrats for the new job and good luck! _________________ http://www.SpacetecRocketry.com |

Me too. I bought a lot of stuff from Distrelec, it's one of the few supplier which carries a wide selection of stainless steel screws and nuts, and also those battery holders. I found the metal version (Keystone as well) from Distrelec some time ago. Also RS is fast (really really fast..) although usually more expensive. But going around town to find some item will cost more in terms of wasted time and transport costs, so... _________________ Stefano Figini |

Hello Giacomo,
I have a question about the chute system:
I understand this:
- You pack each chute in its own deployment bag
- The pilot chute is then supposed to pull out one chute first, then the second, then the third.
- Then the pilot chute and the three empty bags will fly away.
I am not sure, but I guess this will happen:
The pilot chute opens, pulls out the bags. Then the first big chute opens, which brakes the whole rocket and slows its fall down.
I guess your pilot chute will not have enough drag then to pull out the other two chutes, because it hangs over the main parachute.
Am i wrong?

Official Presentation
The LES has been touring since the beginning of the 2010.
It first started with the biggest fair in Italy (March):
Then we were involved with the High School "E. Fermi" (April):
We were asked to support the Space Show in Milan (May) with a small selection of models:
That day we met one of the Italian astronauts, Umberto Guidoni. _________________ Giacomo 'g_boxwood' Bosso
